Also, later on today Joe and I (along with my sister and her family) are going to tour a town landmark, "the mansion." There is a large white house in our town that has always fascinated citizens. The surrounding homes are normal-sized neighborhood houses, but the mansion is gorgeous and very big. It stands alone on the outskirts of a southside neighborhood, in the school district I grew up in (and a very short walk from my husband's parents home). Recently a church nearby purchased the mansion and is restoring it to its "former glory." Today they are having an open house and I am very excited to be allowed on the grounds and inside!
