Mad Load of Freebies

Oh so sorry y'all. I meant to get back online last night and whip up a couple wordarts, but I was laid low by a horrible headache. I wound up in the dark bedroom with a cold washcloth over my face while hubbie and his friend played Wii without me. What a way to spend an evening!

So for today, we have a FEW freebies. First of all, here is the one I was scheduled to post today: the last of the wordarts I meant to go in a pack to accompany the Ice Cream Dreams kit:

And here is Rose's request wordart. I did two different ones because I was playing around with it and couldn't decide which I liked better :)

And lastly but not leastly for today! My little brother-in-law is graduating high school tonight! He is my husband's youngest sibling and I am totally blown away, he's only one year above my baby brother! His name is Chris and he is too cute. I married my hubbie when we were only 19, so Chris in many ways reminds me of the man (boy!) I fell in love with way back when. Chris was only 10 when I married his brother and back then he would call me by my last name (Kirk- like Captain James T). He was just adorable. Still is! Here, I'll post a picture of him:
Christopher Fernandez:

And some graduation wordarts (I couldn't help but make 2!):

This one is inspired by MY high school graduation. This Vitamin C song was released at the perfect time for our graduating class. We sang it to death nine years ago. I still love this song, it still brings back such powerful memories:

Ah well, I'm off to go get ready to watch him walk the stage!

I'm going to take the weekend off the blog now that I have showered you with freebies! Have a great weekend y'all, I'll be back in June :) :)

Today's freebie:

And Rose, I will have your request ready to post later this evening! Sorry, I didn't see it until just now!

How Sweet It Is

Hey all! I'm finally getting started on the wordarts I meant to make for the Ice Cream dreams kit. They will be the rest of the week:

And you know, I am always grateful for y'alls comments. Some make me smile or laugh out loud, but believe me, every simple "thanks" is heard. And I wanted to say to Fitzy: I said a prayer for you and your family. It touches my heart to know I provided you with an uplift in a hard time and I hope that every day you can find some kind of comfort.

2 Timothy 4:7

My husband's cousin Marcus, passed away in Iraq since last Memorial Day. I didn't know him very well, but he was a sweet kid and I know he is sorely missed today. Today I can't help but remember his mother and sisters' sorrow and the way the patriots of this small town lined the funeral path with people, cars, flags, and salutes.

"Army Sgt. Reuben Marcus Fernandez III, 22, of Abilene, Texas; assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died on Oct. 11, 2008 of wounds sustained when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Majar Al Kabir, Iraq."

The verse from Marcus's memorial picture:

Happy Memorial Day everyone.

Ice Cream Dreams add-on

My favorite part!! Customizable ice cream cones. They are quite large (might need resizing) and each piece is separate so you can make your own combinations. A great compliment to any summer kit and definitely the part of this kit that makes ME smile :) :)

Tomorrow I am taking a break, but I will be back Monday with more wordart freebies! (and yes, I know I spelled both separate and customizable wrong on the preview! LOL!)

Ice Cream Dreams words

Well I had intended on getting a pack of wordart made for this kit by this morning, but I never quite got around to it. It has me rather frustrated, so I will definitely make them when I get a chance. Those of you who are regular visitors to the blog will be happy to see them coming up in a few days. In the meantime, to tide you over, click HERE to get a few little felt words that I made (too busy to bang out a preview, sorry!)

And DEFINITELY check back this evening, I'm posting the last (and BEST) piece of the kit, the add-on.

Ice Cream Dreams alpha

Ahhh Friday night! SO glad the week is over. Tomorrow hubbie is spending the day fishing and on Sunday my favorite best-friend-cousin is coming with her crew (fiancee, 3 offspring, and a brother) to teach me her chicken fried steak recipe and play Guitar Hero. Sounds like a blast!

Here is the alpha to Ice Cream dreams, make sure to keep checking back, there will be a couple more packs of goodies tomorrow!

Ice Cream Dreams elements

First off today you get the elements:

Stay tuned tomorrow for the alpha later tonight and a few wordarts to compliment the kit tomorrow morning. And tomorrow evening is the add-on, my favorite part of the whole kit.

Ice Cream Dreams Papers

The next set of papers for Ice Cream Dreams:

Stop back by tomorrow for the elements!

Ice Cream Dreams (early!)

Can you believe I finished three whole days early? Wowie ;)

So I have to be honest, it did not surpass my Spring Time kit as my favorite kit. I tried! I still love the colors, though! And I'm releasing it in pieces for the first time ever, so make sure to check back for the rest. Later today I'll post the rest of the papers and then pieces will be posted daily. You should have the whole kit before Memorial Day! Stay tuned on Saturday evening for the add-on, it is definitely the very best part of the kit; even if you're not crazy about the kit overall, the add-on is too cute to pass up so be sure to pop by to grab that!

And go easy on me! Kits are definitely something I am just getting used to, so they might not quite be up to par with my wordarts. I never meant to stick with wordart only, so I am trying to be brave every now and then and venture out of my comfort zone.

Here is the first part of the papers. I'll be back online later tonight to post the next set.

She's a Butterfly

Today's freebie is from a Martina McBride song, She's a Butterfly. A very pretty song, inspirational really. I'd advise you to look it up, especially if you have an especially special daughter :)

Weekend Break

Ah well this weekend is cracking up to be much more hectic than I'd planned. But I'll be back Monday for a new freebie and news on the kit. :)

Oh and for sdwrdt who asked: the font I used for MUSIC was Amadeus and I got it at (there are 2 Amadeus fonts, I used the one by Claude).

A Daughter is a Little Girl

TGIF man!
Still going steady on the kit. More info on it tomorrow.
Today's freebie:

Thursday, May 14, 2009

It's bright, loud, and definitely girl-centered (although I hope to use enough of the blue and green for it to be boy-relevant as well), but I haven't decided exactly on a theme for the kit. Am messing around a lot with the colors in Photoshop and waiting for inspiration to hit me in the face. It will, it will :)

Here are the colors:

More on the kit later on. Tomorrow I'll be back with a new wordart freebie!

Music is as Important as Breathing

Hey all! So I was busy yesterday and I believe I have the color palette for my next kit decided. I'll post it tomorrow.

Wherever You Go, Go With All Your Heart

Hello all!
Ok, today also feels like a Wednesday, so I am back on track :)
And I must say it always gives me a bit of a rush when I see my work on IkeaGoddess's list!

So first things first, here is today's freebie:

And now about the kit. I am doing one with "girlier" colors again since I had such a blast doing that pretty spring kit and I want something fun to get me back on track. I want to work more on kits so I can get better at it. Practice is always a help! I'm thinking if I set myself to it, I will get it done - so I am aiming at one kit a month. And of course a steady stream of wordart to tide us all over between each one. I am aiming to post the girlie one this month (May!), so I need to get to it. I haven't decided what to do yet for June, I'm waiting to be inspired but I will let you know when I do. Am shooting for the kit to post May 24.

Till tomorrow, y'all take care :)

Sing Anyway

Thanks again for all the kind comments, both about my friend Sylvia and about my avoidance of Mother's Day. It means a lot to know you guys are out there :)

Something I neglected to mention when I was going on about our yearly memorial meeting we had on Thursday, Thursday was also my baby sister's 21st birthday! (21!!) She had a small get-together party on Friday, it was a blast.

So here's a wordart in honor of my sister Jesica (yes 1 s), who loves to sing:

Flowers Have the Sun

Happy Mother's Day to all you Mamas out there :)

To be brutally honest, I am hibernating. I hide from this this holiday. I love my mother and I will definitely give her a call to acknowledge her today.. But it's hard to get into a holiday that my friends and sisters are celebrating as mothers. And I'm just not yet. :(

Keeping prayers up for next Mother's Day of course, and here's a Mom freebie:

3 Freebies

Ah look here I am, a whole day early! Hooray!
Thanks to you guys who wished me well!! The insurance mess is worked out and I picked up my rental car Thursday. It's a Yaris. Now I don't want to be hurting anyone else's feelings, but I just cannot stand that car. I miss, miss, miss my HHR. I'll find out Monday when it will be ready again to drive.

Now I'm going to ramble on a little about Thursday.. The 7th is an important day for me. When I was a senior in high school I had a great group of friends. We were wild and crazy :) But on May 7, 2000 we lost one of our clan, Sylvia. She drowned in her backyard pool, she was 16. It was a horrible time for all of us, we were 15-18 years old and coping with the death of a peer for the first time. A close peer. And Sylvia was a beautiful person, always smiling, cracking jokes.. She was a sweet person. We all claimed her as our "best friend" and she's the only person I've ever known who could be that one special best friend to so many without ever having to choose. She was incredible.. it was quite a blow.

So every day on the anniversary of the day we lost her, the old gang gets together at her favorite park, near a circle of trees that she loved. This is our 9th year, hard as that is to believe.. Some of us are married now, some have kids.. and some sadly haven't progressed much since high school. Some of us stay close and some of us don't speak but the once a year. There are a lot of dynamics: exes, best friends, rivalries, romances, grudges, etc. but every year we put it all aside in memory of the kids we once were and the adult she'll never get to be..

Excuse me while I get all weepy (again!) haha. So anyway, after all that emotional drama, let me post the freebies (I have three today!)

Here is one for Sylvia, we miss her everyday. She would be 25 years old.. sigh.

One to kinda commemorate the meeting:

And a bonus one for my BFF Stephanie because she graduated college today with a BSN. She's a nurse now!

I'm back on track! Check back tomorrow!

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Hey all. Sorry I've been MIA the past couple days.

I got in a car accident :(
I'm fine, everyone's fine, just a fender-bender, but my car can't make left hand turns or the wheel scrapes. So I am stranded at home making desperate pleas to insurance companies, body shops, and car rental services.. all of whom run me around in circles and take forever to return my calls. Bahh! The good news is the accident wasn't my fault (the other car made a right hand turn into traffic in front of me and I hit her), so at least I won't be paying for it!

So anyway, I'm a bit frazzled and stressed, so my blog is on a mini-vaca for now but I will be back soon! I have been working on some wordarts and getting a tickle of an idea for a new freebie kit, so just stay tuned.

I'll be back by Sunday at the latest :) Y'all hold on.

Monday Links

Well I am forgoing the freebie today. I will be back on the freebie train tomorrow, no worries but bare with me just a second, I'll make it quick!!

I have another blog, it is called Monday Links:
Click to check it out:

It's pretty simple, every Monday I post five links. Random stuff: fun online games, funny or amazing videos, free product offers, activities for kids, fun products, crafty ideas, quizzes, etc. It's been going for about a year now and I'd like to expand a bit :) So check it out, I think you'll find it's a nice little online distraction.

P.S. for Jody: The font I used for "fit" and "quit" yesterday was the free font Twin Marker. I got it from Acid Fonts.

Throw a Fit But Just Don't Quit

I'm having a kinda off day so far, not much to say.
Here's today's freebie, hopefully I'll be back to normal tomorrow.

Kids Alphabet Stickers

Alas, the Brother acrostic will have to wait one more day. I am not finished yet and will have NO time today to get to it.

So to tide us all over, here is a set of alpha stickers I made a few weeks ago. I was just playing around. It's a whole set, the capital letters are from the Kids Alphabet font, my coloring added and Atomic Cupcake's cut out action used.
Click to download:

((the denim paper is from my Dungarees kit))

Check back tomorrow for the Brother acrostic!
